Where will this degree take me?
The Business Management with Creative Industries degree is aimed at those geared towards becoming a business leader within the creative and cultural industries. It will prepare you to tackle the unique nature of the creative sector head on. With this degree you can work in advertising, design, TV, film, craft, fashion, games, publishing, technology, arts, culture and music.
What will I learn?
At stage one: students will focus on the principles and fundamentals of core management and be given the opportunity to define the role of managers within organisations.
At stage two: students focus on using their knowledge of business management to build their skills capacity and to model the required behaviours of professional managers.
At stage three: students critically analyse and evaluate the effectiveness of various models of management practice that contribute to driving organisational performance.

Semester 1: Academic Skills, Effective Ideas Generation, and Creativity in Context
Semester 2: Professional Skills, Financial Decision Making for Creative Projects and Events, and Marketing and Communications
Semester 3: Employability Skills, HRM in the Creative Industries, Global Creative Brands and the Cultural Marketplace, and Elective modules (choose one) E-Commerce or Cultural Tourism
Semester 4: Project/Placement Design and Implementation, and Evaluations and Reflection (Work Based/Related Learning)
Semester 5: Emerging Themes, Intellectual Property and Regulation CI, Stakeholder and Community Engagement, and Elective modules (choose one) Research Methods or Research and the Professional
Semester 6: Creative Cities, Capstone Project (Dissertation/Consultancy Project/Work Based Learning), and Elective modules (choose one) Social Enterprise, or Hospitality and Venue Management, or Destination Marketing

Entry requirements
An applicant must normally be 18 years of age at the start of the programme and as a minimum must have obtained:
- 2 A Level passes (A-E/ minimum of 80 UCAS Tariff points) or successfully achieved 120 credits on the GSM London’s Foundation Year programme or equivalent

If English is not the applicant’s first language, proof of fluency through IELTS (minimum score 6.0) or another accepted system must be provided.
Other qualifications that may be considered include:

- VDA: AGNVQ, AVCE, AVS
- Access to HE or Foundation Year provision
- International Baccalaureate
- Irish / Scottish Highers / Advanced Highers
Applications made under these qualifications may be subject to approval by Plymouth University.
Other equivalent qualifications may be considered if the Admissions Tutors believe applicants have the potential, motivation and knowledge to complete the programme successfully. All applicants who do not meet the standard entry requirements will be invited for interview.
Mature students (those 21 and over) with evidence of full-time work experience supported by a reference from their employer may be considered on their individual merits.
Candidates who do not meet the degree entry requirements are encouraged to apply for the Foundation Year. On completion of the Foundation Year you will gain direct entry on to this degree programme, read more about our Foundation Year programme.
Accreditation for prior learning will also be considered on an individual basis.
